Best Golf Rangefinders | 5 Options To Consider

Best Golf Rangefinders

Best Golf Rangefinders

Let’s dive right in. I have put together a few recommendations to what I think are the best golf laser rangefinders worth considering. They range in price from under 200, budget rangefinders and some more premium ones.

  • TecTecTec VPRO500S (Cheapest With Slope)
  • Bushnell Pro X2
  • Precision NX7 Pro Slope (My Personal Favourite)
  • Callaway 300 Pro
  • Bushnell Pro XE (Best Performing)

It’s no surprise the TecTecTec is one of the best selling range finders on Amazon. The TecTecTec VPRO500S (SP) succeeds the VPro500 which was originally on this list. The VPRO 500S is that exact same device really but has the additional Slope feature.

Slope has become one of the most in demand features over the last two years with rangefinders. It also become a lot more affordable with many budget rangefinders now having a slope feature.

The VPRO 500S is really nicely made and has a high quality feel to it. The plain black finish might be boring but also appeals to many as it’s not too out there either like the NX7 Pro.

The TecTecTec VPRO500S is very easy to use. Simply point and press the power button to the flag. The VPRO 500S is a very compact and lightweight rangefinder.

The TecTecTec VPRO 500S also ships with a really cool carry case. The carry is black with a nice yellow zip separating either side. It comes with a hook lock for quick and easy access rather than opening and closing the zip each time.

Performance

The TecTecTec Vpro 500S (Check Price On Amazon) performs amazing when you consider how much it costs. It has quick readings, long range yardages and a slope feature.

It has a great yardage range right up to 540 yards with 1 yard accuracy. Which is amazing. You also have the option to use yards or meters.

They upgraded the performance of the VPro 500 models in 2019 to compete with other rangefinders, but kept the same model and design as it was so popular.

With quick, accurate readings and and having the added slope feature you really are getting one of the best golf laser rangefinders available and at an amazing price.

TecTecTec also upgraded their pin seeker technology. It works much faster and is more accurate. It works like other rangefinders scan mode by overlapping subjects like hazards and trees and locating the flag stick.

Slope

The Slope feature on the VPRO 500S works really well. I had the original non slope VPro 500 in my best golf rangefinders list previously.

But for an extra $20 for the VPro 500S (SP) compared to the standard VPro 500, I think you would be mad to not consider the slope version.

The TecTecTec VPRO 500S is also legal to use for golf tournaments as the Slope can be turned on/off.

Pros

  • Quick Readings
  • Very easy to use.
  • Excellent clarity and clear 6x magnification
  • Slope
  • New Pin Seeker Technology (Scan Mode)
  • Cool carry case with a belt loop
  • Excellent customer support
  • Very reasonable price for the quality of product

Cons

  • Not 100% Waterproof

Bushnell Pro X2 Laser Rangefinder

The Bushnell Pro X2 (SP) is one of the best golf laser rangefinders money can buy. The Pro X2 is Bushnell’s premium rangefinder. It’s one of the most expensive models available, but it’s such amazing device

The design is so cool. The red face just compliments the grey finish and black grip design. The grips just cup your hands for added control getting your yardage.

Like most Bushnell rangefinders, the Bushnell pro X2 comes with the cool rangefinder case. Bushnell supply the best rangefinders cases hands down.

The Bushnell cases are strong, durable, and nicely designed. The Bushnell rangefinder cases just attract attention. You just know having one of these clipped onto your golf bag makes your playing partners jealous.

Performance

The basic functionality of the Bushnell Pro X2 (Amazon Link) is the same as most Bushnell rangefinders. Point at your target, push the button, get your distance.

But what makes the X2 one of the best golf rangefinders is how easy you can turn on and off the slope. Simply flip the switch on the side and your laser rangefinder is competition legal.

You can view the distances in yards or meters. This is handy if you grew up on a course that’s in meters and are more comfortable with meter distances.

The Bushnell Pro X2 is one of the best golf rangefinders for a number of reasons. It performs its key responsibilities extremely well; but the additional features make you want this rangefinder.

Dual Display Readings

You can also change the brightness on the scope to make the readings easier to read. A feature that other Bushnell models has lacked.

The Pro X2 displays readings in 2 options, Red or Black. This might seem like nothing much, but believe me it helps.

Red is usually best, however in a bright setting the red is sometimes be difficult to read. In this case you can use black.

Price

Is the Pro X2 expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Well that depends on you and how much you want to spend.

I cannot recommend buying a rangefinder enough to help lower your scores.

Instead of spending $500 on the latest driver, I think owning a rangefinder is a better investment for your golf.

A new driver will look great, but a laser rangefinder will be more beneficial to you to lower your scores.

If this is too expensive, I would look at my best budget rangefinder post for options under $250.

Pros

  • Slope readings with the option to turn on/off
  • Legal for tournament play
  • Red or Black readings make it easier to read yardages in different brightnesses
  • Jolt Technology for fast readings
  • High quality feel
  • 450 yards range to 0.5 yard accuracy
  • 6x Magnification
  • 100% Waterproof
  • 2 year warranty

Cons

  • Expensive

Precision NX7 Pro Slope

The Precision NX7 Pro Slope (SP Link) is my favourite and in my eyes the best golf rangefinder you can buy for the money.

It performs well, has all the features you need and it’s half the price of similar spec rangefinders.

If you have read some of my other posts reviewing rangefinders, you will know that the Precision NX7 Pro Slope is the coolest looking rangefinder in my opinion.

The Black/Grey will the scaly grips just looks amazing and compliments the luminous green face. It just looks different and far from boring.

Performance

The Precision founders really took on some of the big name brands by offering premium features for much more affordable prices. Two of these key features are Pulse Vibration & Slope.

You might be asking yourself, what the hell is “Pulse”? Pulse is Precision’s answer Bushnell’s JOLT.

What Pulse does is give off a little vibration notification when you lock onto the target; similar technology to the Bushnell models.

This is a feature that the top Bushnell models use to distinguish themselves from other rangefinders. However the NX7 Pro Slope rangefinder is nearly half the price of the high end Bushnell models.

The NX7 Pro Slope distances down to a tenth of a yard right up to 400 yards. It has a beautiful clear optics with x6 magnification to zoom in and lock onto the flagstick. It works particularly well if you are a golfer with shaky hands.

The Precision Pro Golf NX7 (Amazon Link) also gives you the option to work in both yards and meters which is important to many golfers.

It comes with a nice and solid carry case with a hook so you can clip it to your bag. It also includes a clean cloth which comes in handy.

Slope

What’s nice about the NX7 Pro is that it displays both the standard yardage on the bottom of the screen and the yardage accounting for slope at the top of the screen. It’s easy to turn on/off, so don’t worry you it’s legal to use for tournaments.

For serious golfers, using the slope is a desirable feature. The “slope” mode will display the “plays like” yardage, compensating the difference in elevation to the target.

I love this rangefinder. One of the best golf laser rangefinders in my opinion and it looks so damn cool. But that might just be me.

Price

Premium features usually come at a premium cost. However, the Precision NX7 Pro Slope is very affordable.

It actually made my best budget rangefinders post because I genuinely think it’s a bargain.

Right now on Amazon you can pick up the NX7 Slope for $249.99. That’s a hell of a lot cheaper than the Pro X2 I mentioned above. In fact I did a post comparing the Pro X2 vs Nx7 Pro already.

Pros

  • Excellent value for money
  • 6x magnification
  • Pulse Vibration Technology
  • 2 year warranty
  • Free lifetime battery replacements

Cons

  • Loud bright design might not suit some peoples eye.

Callaway 300 Pro Rangefinder

Credit: Callawaygolf.com

Everyone knows Callaway as one of the biggest names in golf; and now they have moved into the rangefinder market.

Callaway have seen the popularity of the rangefinders devices and want to get in before it’s too late. I think they have done a pretty good job with this one.

The Callaway 300 Pro rangefinder (SP Link) is a brilliant piece of technology. It’s not the coolest looking rangefinder in the world, but if you are looking for one of the best golf rangefinders at an affordable price, you should really consider the Callaway 300 Pro.

Performance

The performance of this laser rangefinder must be admired. It offers excellent pin seeking technology that can lock onto a pin from 300 yards.

The pin seeker technology makes sure that you are not locking onto hills, bunkers or mounds in the background but locked onto the flag stick.

The rangefinder will lock in at +/- 1 yard accuracy. You can also use the 6x magnification to acquire yardages up to 1000 yards away (If you want to).

Callaway have added a ‘Birdie’ feature to their 300 Pro rangefinder. Basically it’s like the Pulse & Jolt vibration when locked onto the flagstick, but rather than vibrate, it makes a chirp sound, like a bird.

Slope

Credit: Callawaygolf.com

Most of the best laser rangefinders available today offer slope features. I think slope features are so important to get to know your local course.

The Callaway 300 Pro (Amazon Link) calculates the slope and ‘plays like’ yardage for you.

The slope feature cant be used during competition, but using it during practice rounds will help you acquire more slope data during practice play. This data can then be utilised in competition play.

For example if you are practicing and know that certain shots play 15 yards longer/shorter (after using the slope feature), you can make a mental note and use that info to choose the right club during competition play.

Since I have updated my best golf rangefinders list for 2020, the Callaway 300 Pro has dropped dramatically in price. Right now you can pick up the 300 Pro on Amazon for less than $200.

However, this is only the case for people who can buy from Amazon US. Because in the UK, the 300 Pro is substantially higher.

The huge drop in the price is a reason why it made my best budget rangefinder list also. I was a little shocked at the big drop.

The 300 Pro is an amazing rangefinder and without a doubt one of the best golf rangefinders that you can buy today.

I would check out some more reviews on Amazon Here to see what other golfers had to say.

Pros

  • Pin Seeker technology up to 300 yards
  • Slope
  • Automatically calculates slope yardage
  • Flagstick lock on
  • Water & Fog Proof
  • x6 Magnification
  • Huge price reduction

Cons

  • Don’t really like the chirp sound. I much prefer the vibrate on the Precision and Bushnell Models

Bushnell Pro XE

best golf rangefinders
Credit: bushnellgolf.com

The Bushnell Pro XE (SP) right now is Bushnell’s premium rangefinder. It’s their best offering by far and probably the best performing golf rangefinder you can buy right now.

The Pro XE has a very cool and futuristic kind of design. It has a rubber armoured finish around it’s metal frame.

The Bushnell Pro XE is 100% waterproof. Wheres most of the rangefinders available right now are only water resistant, even the premium ones.

The Pro XE also has Integrated BITE magnetic technology that allows the rangefinder to be stuck to any metal surface like the bar of a caddy cart..

Performance

Credit: bushnellgolf.com

The Pro XE is the best rangefinder for golf you can buy. It has every aspect of the best rangefinders you can buy but more. It just beats the rest in every way it can performance wise.

The yardage range has been extended to 500+ yards with pin seeker Jolt vibration to confirm you are locked onto the target.

Rather than your Pin Seeker and Jolt, you get a visual Jolt also to confirm you are locked onto flagstick.

What that does is highlight a a red ring around the scope circle and also displays the ‘Slope with elements’ like the image below.

Slope With Elements

Credit: bushnellgolf.com

Like I said the Bushnell Pro XE (Amazon Link) takes a step up in almost every way compared the some of the best golf rangefinders out there.

Slope with Elements takes the standard slope feature that bit further. It gives you more info like temperature, barometric pressure and Slope to provide the most accurate yardages possible.

Price

You are buying the best golf rangefinder money can buy with the Pro XE; and that comes at a cost. However, to my surprise it’s currently cheaper than the Pro X2 mentioned above.

Right now you can buy the Bushnell Pro XE (Amazon Link) for a reduced price of less than $450. That’s over a $100 price reduction and currently $90 cheaper than the Pro X2.

I’m not sure how long this will last, but at the time of this post the price was just under $450 which is amazing in my opinion.

Best Golf Rangefinders

best golf rangefinders

You might have noticed I only limited this best rangefinders for golfing list to only 5 options. To be honest, I think the 5 options offer the best balance of price, performance and overall mix of design.

If you do want more options, I would maybe look at my other posts like rangefinders under 200 post, Bushnell rangefinders and best budget rangefinders post. They will give you a lot more options to choose from.
